for ourselves first.
Latter House Publishing did not start as a publishing house. It started because a message needed to get out of a building, and nobody was going to do it for us.
The Home Team began as a book. Then the book needed a study, because small groups wanted to work through it together. Then the study needed a curriculum, because churches wanted to run it as a night rather than a class. Then the curriculum needed workbooks for four different age groups, sermon material for the pastor, a poster for the lobby, and a box that could ship all of it to a church that had never heard of us.
By the time it was finished there were ten books, seven of them for children, alongside four quarters of curriculum, a card deck, a digital course, and a host kit. We learned every part of publishing the expensive way: by getting it wrong on our own books, with our own money, in front of our own congregation.
That is the whole reason this company exists. Somewhere along the way other pastors started asking how we did it — and it turned out the answer was not a referral to a printer. It was everything we had learned about what a resource has to do before you hand it to a tired family on a Wednesday night.
What we actually believe about this work
A pastor's book is not a product launch. It is usually the distilled version of something they have been saying for fifteen years, and it deserves to be handled that way.
So we publish work that strengthens hearts, elevates faith, and builds the future God envisioned. We do it with honor, excellence, and spiritual discernment — which in practice means we will tell you when a manuscript is not ready, when a cover is not working, and when the thing you are describing should be a curriculum instead of a book.
Why "Latter House"
"The glory of this latter temple shall be greater than the former," says the Lord of hosts. "And in this place I will give peace," says the Lord of hosts.

The promise is not that the old thing was bad. It is that what comes next carries more weight than what came before. That is what we want to be true of every book that leaves here, and of the ministry of every pastor who trusts us with one.
